The visitor interface at FaceBook has some significant issues, it appears, unless PolitiFact really is actively manipulating it. I don't imagine a news organization can afford to pay somebody to do that, so for now I'll blame it all on FaceBook.
PolitiFact's FaceBook page has Wall discussions and a separate Discussions area. At the latter, I have periodically updated a thread called "Fact Check This." The list of discussions is listed in reverse chronological order by the most recent post in each thread. And the list looks like this near the thread I started:
Despite an update within the past two weeks, the "Latest post" supposedly occurred "over a year ago."
Pants on Fire, FaceBook!
Take that, machine overlords!
Bryan: I'm gathering stats and came across a PolitiFact Texas ruling that might be of interest to you: http://www.politifact.com/texas/statements/2011/mar/05/phyllis-schlafly/phyllis-schlafly-says-broken-cfl-bulbs-allegedly-c/
ReplyDeleteLook at the "subjects" and the writer, researcher and editor. Errors?
Karen,
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what errors you're talking about as to the writer/researcher/editor. Explain? There does seem to be some confusion between "broken" and "flickering" CFL bulbs. And obviously it seems as though any number of appropriate testimonials should make it true that it is alleged that flickering bulbs cause migraines. In any case, thanks for the tip!
Bryan, if you go to the PolitiFact Texas Facebook page you will see what I found in error: I commented that for the Phyllis Shlafly statement on CFL bulbs, they had Bill Adair as writer/researcher/editor, and for subject they had the program she made the statement on, plus abortion and Afghanistan...and as both comments note (me and PF Texas), it was a bit *wierd.* It looks like they corrected it by the time you saw it. But I thought I'd tell you because it seems a tad sloppy to make an error like that. Plus, don't they have to make a special note that this was corrected after publishing it? Keep up the good work, Karen
