"The Real Barack Obama" replaces "Rezko Watch"

Another change to the Essential Links: "Rezko Watch" has pulled up from its Blogger roots and transplanted itself in toto as a Wordpress blog titled "The Real Barack Obama."

Hostile attack problems at Blogger affecting several sites critical of Obama prompted the move.

Who purchased the lot next to the Obama house?

Rezko Watch has the goods in the form of circumstantial evidence. Here is a key graph:

When asked about possible assets held by his wife, Tony Rezko responded that his wife (no name) had some some land in Hyde Park she had sold the month before. Rezko said she had sold it for $120,000 in excess of the mortgage (he didn't say value, he said in excess of the mortgage). However, Tony Rezko said that the $120,000 went to pay the buyer for a previous debt and that she had not made one penny on the deal.

Barack Obama (D-Ill.)'s income tax records, Thomas Lifson wrote March 27, 2008, in the American Thinker (h/t Jay Rubin), "we are finally able to get some necessary perspective on the big favor Tony Rezko did for the Obamas in buying what has been termed in the press [as] 'the adjacent, undeveloped lot'. It turns out this is a seriously misleading description."

The "undeveloped lot" was apparently the side yard for the home purchased by the Obamas with the help of the Rezkos. At some point after the purchase the Obamas apparently erected a fence separating the two properties.

Rezko Watch added to "Essential Links"

Though it remains to be seen how deeply Barack Obama is involved in the Tony Rezko case, now that the official proceedings have started the details will carry interest. As a result, the Rezko Watch blog earns a spot among the essential links. The reporting is even-handed and careful by my estimation.
