Democrats doing what Democrats do best

A plan to raise taxes? You don't say!
Earlier several leading House Democratic lawmakers unveiled a scheme to raise taxes on Americans to pay for the war, in an apparent bid to further undercut the conflict.

"If this war is important enough to fight, then it ought to be important enough to pay for," said David Obey, chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.

"By putting together this bill we hope people will stop ignoring what this war is costing American taxpayers and call the president's bluff on fiscal responsibility."

So, even though the budget deficit has been shrinking under Bush policies and budget proposals, the Democrats want to raise taxes to highlight Bush's (lack of) fiscal responsibility.

But apparently it was OK when FDR ran up a deficit before and during World War II.

What you have here is Democrats willing to bite into the economy to try to make the war into a fiscal issue. Another disgrace from the party that put the D in disgrace.
