Black Wolf's at it again

Fresh on the heels of the posts I talked about here, self-described "Leftist" Canadian Black Wolf goes to bat for Hezbollah.

First, Black Wolf attacks a member of his own government, Foreign Affairs Minister Peter Mackay, for calling Hezbollah "a cancer" in the midst of his comments in support of the G8 statement calling for Hezbollah to disarm. Black Wolf castigates Mackay for being unaware of the situation on the ground over there (but how did he come to be better informed than his country's foreign affairs minister?). He tries to explain why it is such a bad idea to criticize Hezbollah: "Hizbollah is a social organization first and military second, that means for your little pea brain, it helps a lot of people with its social programs, and is needed in the south and if they go, a more militant organization will pop up."

Huh? How much more militant can you get than dedicating yourself to the destruction of Israel?

As for Hezbollah being a "social organization first"--that's a laugh. Hezbollah's social service programs are subservient to its political-military aims. In speaking about Hezbollah's ability to take sole credit for the defeat of Israel in the wake of the Israeli military withdrawal in 2000, Gilbert Achcar said
Hizbollah has been very effective on that score. They were definitely very "daring" in their actions, inspired by their quasi-mystical views on martyrdom. And they knew also how to win the souls and minds of the population, by making a very clever use of the significant funding they got from Iran, thus organizing all kinds of social services to the benefit of the impoverished population.

We have no explanation from Black Wolf as to why we should expect a more militant organization to fill the niche left by Hezbollah. An organization that fires military rockets at purely civilian centers in pursuit of its stated aim of eliminating Israel, while advocating martyr status for those who die for that cause, is apparently the best we can expect in his eyes.
