Three JLTV development contracts coming

The Army-led Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) program is on track to award three 27-month technology development contracts this month, said the commander of U.S. Army TACom Life Cycle Management Command. That brings the much-anticipated program into the next phase, selecting three teams from a capable field of industry competitors.

The big four partnerships of AM General/General Dynamics, BAE/Lockheed Martin, BAE/Navistar and Northrop Grumman/Oshkosh all seem to have produced strong designs. Other entries from firms such as Blackwater/Raytheon and Force Protection are long shots.

I have no insight into which of the big four will fail to make the cut down to three. Each company among the four possesses the proven capability to deliver and effectively support its designs on a large scale.
