Who's in first?

The Tampa Bay Devil Rays--that's who.

Yeah, I know that the team name is now officially the Rays.

Yes, it's extremely early but it's worth noting because the team has never had so strong a start despite batting relatively poorly through this point in the season. Newcomer Eric Hinske may have been the team's offensive MVP for April, and he is pretty much a surprise starter.

The team has relied on solid pitching to work its way to the top of the AL East. The bullpen has been good, which is shocking to say after its performance last year. And Tampa Bay has had its share of injuries, including pitching ace Scott Kazmir who has yet to pitch in a regular season game, and free agent outfielder Cliff Floyd. Outfielder B. J. Upton reportedly strained his shoulder in the series finale against the Orioles yesterday and may be out of the lineup as the team heads to Boston for a series with the Red Sox.

Go Devil Rays.
