I predict that "Miss America" of 1973 will be a Negro girl from Chicago. That's what you've got to love about Criswell. He made some very specific predictions, eschewing the vague generalities that some future-tellers favor.
--The Amazing Criswell
Well, it doesn't specifically say she wasn't from Chicago ...
DePere, Wisconsin A native of Wisconsin, Terry Meeuwsen grew up with dreams of becoming an actress and singer. After attending St. Norbert College, she moved to L.A. and joined the New Christy Minstrels. Her two-year tour with the group yielded seven recordings, and included international travel and a slew of appearances on major television talk and variety shows. In 1973, Meeuwsen was crowned Miss America, and after devoting a year to fulfilling her duties in that role, she returned to acting and singing.
Update: I suppose it's worth noting that Meeuwsen appears regularly on Pat Robertson's 700 Club program.
If only Criswell had predicted that the winner of the 1973 Miss Universe Pageant would go on to appear regularly on a major Christian television program!
