Baghdad, Sept 9, (VOI) – The "mastermind" of last month's bombings that targeted Iraq's religious Yazidi minority was killed in a U.S. raid waged earlier in September near the northern city of Mosul, a spokesman for the U.S. army said on Sunday.
"Coalition forces positively identified a terrorist killed in an operation Sept. 3 southwest of Mosul as one of the terrorists responsible for the August bombings in Ninewa Province resulting in over 700 casualties," spokesman Mark Fox said in a press conference in Baghdad on Sunday.
"Abu Muhammad al-Afri, also known as Abu Jasim, Arkan Hassan Ali, Nuraddin, Hajar and Abu Ahmad al-Afri, was the al-Qaeda in Iraq emir of Sinjar and was one of the terrorists responsible for ordering the Aug. 14 truck bombings, which primarily targeted the Yazidi population."

Just imagine what we could do if the surge were working.
