Rays pitching picks up for weak batting, series victory results

The Tampa Bay Devil* Rays continued their weak overall hitting but still came away with a home series victory over the Oakland Athletics. James Shields pitched 8.1 innings, giving up 3 earned runs, in the rubber game to snare the series win. My series MVP award is shared by starting pitchers James Shields and Scott Kazmir. Kazmir won the opening game with seven shutout innings, giving up just two hits.

Kazmir stands at 8-5; Shields' record is now 9-6.
